Primary research involves collecting data first hand so it is not collected from the internet or books. It can be collected in many different forms, the main ones being interviewed, questionnaires, panels and observation.
Secondary research involves collecting data which already exists and not collecting it yourself. This includes getting and using information from reports, publications, and internet research and company files.
The six key steps to research are;
§ Identify
§ Produce
§ Collect
§ Analyse
§ Review
§ Present
Another advantage of internet research is that the information you find is up to date and frequently updated, saves time as you can just simply enter the text you want into a search engine, instead of looking it up in a book. You can always get straight forward answer and not loads of useless information.
Sources;
Internet: Can help me research into already existing products that have relevance with my project giving me help and guidance and examples to follow while completing my project.
Books: I can look into books into history of the brief I have chosen to educate me and give me ideas about my project.
Magazines: Again look into already existing and current ideas to give me ideas for posters.
Newspaper: I can look into reviews of trailers and other videos and then use them as examples.
Libraries: Plenty of books with information that can help me and influence me and give me ideas.
Surveys: I can survey people and get an idea about what the audience want to see and want from their media and I can take their ideas and preferences and use them in my project.
